From 2019 onward, Last Gasp revived the spirit of underground comix with The Book of Weirdo, a single-issue anthology that gathers work from a new generation of cartoonists alongside archival gems from the legendary Weirdo magazine era. Curated by artist and musician Peter Bagge, whose own tenure as editor of the original Weirdo defined its irreverent, DIY ethos, this one-shot serves as both a tribute and a continuation of the publication's legacy.
