The Badger

In this 1983–1984 miniseries from Capital Comics, writer Mike Baron and artists Jeff Butler and Rick Burchett introduced a hilariously violent, offbeat superhero—a former Vietnam vet with multiple personalities, one of whom is a costumed vigilante called the Badger. Blending dark humor with martial-arts action and a distinctly 1980s indie sensibility, the four-issue run planted a flag for creator-owned, character-driven storytelling outside the mainstream. It’s a cult touchstone that helped define the era’s punk-tinged, anything-goes approach to superheroics.
