The Backstagers

The Backstagers, published by BOOM! Studios from 2016 to 2017, is an eight-issue comic series by writer James Tynion IV and artist Rian Sygh that pulls back the curtain on high school theater—literally. When a new student joins the stage crew, he discovers that the world backstage is a magical, labyrinthine realm filled with hidden doors, strange creatures, and the kind of found family that only exists in the wings. It’s a warm, whimsical celebration of the misfits and crew members who make the magic happen, told with infectious energy and a deep love for the craft of putting on a show.
