From 1950 to 1951, this 19-issue series brought Edgar Rice Burroughs’ jungle lord to Dell Comics, with Burne Hogarth as its defining creative force—writing and illustrating many of the issues alongside fellow writer Don Garden and artist Ruben Moreira. Hogarth’s dynamic, muscular art style gave the strip a cinematic energy that influenced adventure comics for decades.
