Supreme the Return

About the series
In 1999, Alan Moore took the reins of Awesome’s Superman-analogue Supreme for a six-issue miniseries that redefined the character with a metatextual, Silver Age-infused reboot. Joined by artists Rick Veitch, Jim Baikie, and Jim Starlin, Moore wove the story of Ethan Crane—Supreme’s civilian identity—and his world of Diana Dane, Kid Supreme, and the cosmic threat Optilux, while Radar the dog looked on. This run is celebrated for its loving deconstruction of superhero continuity, treating Supreme’s past as a mutable, nostalgic playground. It remains a landmark for its clever, heartfelt exploration of what makes a hero endure.
