About the series
In the late 1970s and into the 1980s, Elvifrance brought a uniquely Italian brand of horror, fantasy, and sci-fi to French readers with Super-Terrifiant, a series that ran for 83 issues from 1983 to 1992. Known for its lurid painted covers and visceral interior art, the series is most closely associated with the masterful, atmospheric work of Emanuele Taglietti, whose brush brought a distinctive, almost cinematic dread to each installment alongside regular contributor Germano Bonazzi. A cornerstone of the European "fumetti neri" tradition, Super-Terrifiant stands as a vivid, unapologetic artifact of its era, capturing the raw, unfiltered pulp energy that defined a generation of Italian genre comics exported across the continent.
