About the series
In 1971 and 1972, Marvel published a two-issue Sub-Mariner Special, a short-lived series that saw writer Stan Lee and artist Gene Colan reunite for a pair of oversized adventures with the Prince of Atlantis. These specials offered a concentrated dose of Namor’s undersea world, showcasing Colan’s moody, expressive art and Lee’s signature bombastic storytelling during the Bronze Age of comics. While brief, the series stands as a noteworthy collaboration between two of Marvel’s most revered creators, delivering a focused spotlight on the Sub-Mariner outside his regular title.
