Street Music

Across six issues published by Fantagraphics between 1988 and 1990, Street Music offered a raw, personal window into the underground comix scene of the era, anchored by the autobiographical work of Carol Tyler, who also contributed art alongside Bill Turner and Dave Marshall. Writers Jules Feiffer and Mark Burbey joined Tyler in crafting stories that blurred the line between confessional diary and gritty urban observation. Though short-lived, the series stands as an early, vital showcase for Tyler's distinctive voice and a snapshot of the alternative-comics community's shift toward intimate, slice-of-life storytelling.
