Sport Stars

From 1946, Parents' Magazine Press published Sport Stars, a four-issue comic series that brought the lives and careers of famous athletes to the page. Written primarily by Hy Turkin and Norman L. Lobsenz, with consistent artwork by Edd Ashe, the series offered young readers straightforward, illustrated biographies of sports legends. It stands as an early example of the non-superhero, educational comic book, reflecting a post-war interest in wholesome, real-life heroes.
