Spirit

From 1985 to 1987, Albin Michel published a three-issue Spirit series that brought together classic and contemporary voices, with stories by Will Eisner, Jules Feiffer, and Jean Moritz, and art by Eisner and Jerry Grandenetti. This short run revisits the masked detective Denny Colt and his world, including allies like commissaire Dolan and foes such as Octopus and Ébonite, blending the original noir spirit with a European publishing sensibility. It stands as a notable, if brief, revival of Eisner’s iconic creation for a new audience.
