Spirit

In the early 1980s, Neptune Comics launched a short-lived but distinctive five-issue series simply titled Spirit, a revival of the classic masked detective created by Will Eisner. Written and drawn by a rotating team of talented newcomers, the series aimed to recapture the gritty, noir-tinged atmosphere of the original 1940s newspaper strip while updating it for a new decade. Though it only ran from 1982 to 1984, this Spirit is notable for being one of the first attempts to bring the character into the direct-market comic book era, preserving his legacy for a generation of collectors and fans.
