About the series
In the early 1990s, the Danish publisher Semic launched Spiralis as a 12-issue comic series that blended whimsical fantasy with ecological themes. Centered on the adventures of a young girl and her magical companions in a vibrant, spiral-shaped world, the series was most consistently illustrated by Batem, with scripts primarily by Éric Verhoest, Heidi Grinde, and Jean-Luc Cambier. Though short-lived, Spiralis stands out as a distinctive European import that brought a gentle, nature-infused sensibility to the Danish comics market of its era.
