About the series
In 2024, Viz Media launched Spider-Man: Octo-Girl, a limited series that transplants Otto Octavius—still in his classic, scheming form—into a Japanese high school setting. Written by Hideyuki Furuhashi, Caleb Cook, and Molly Tanzer, with art by Betten Court, the story introduces Hida Haruka, a young girl who becomes entangled with the displaced Doctor Octopus, while Peter Parker and the Sakura Spider also factor into the chaos. This three-issue run blends Marvel’s familiar web-slinging lore with a distinctly manga-inspired tone, offering a fresh, cross-cultural take on the Spider-Man mythos.
