About the series

In this short-lived 1981–1982 series from the Belgian publisher Blues, a satirical, adult-oriented comic created by a rotating team led by Jan Bucquoy and the provocateur Picha (who also served as a primary artist alongside Pirana and Solano López), Spetters offered a raw, anarchic blend of sex, politics, and social commentary. Its seven issues captured the irreverent, underground spirit of early-80s European comics, standing out for its unflinching, often grotesque humor and its willingness to skewer everything from consumer culture to sexual mores. Though brief, the series remains a cult touchstone for fans of transgressive, auteur-driven Franco-Belgian comics.
