Avalon Communications’ Special Collection (2000–2001) was an 11-issue anthology series that paired classic Frank Frazetta cover paintings with new interior stories by writer Nick Cuti and artists including Frank Giacoia and M. J. Zeck. Each issue offered a standalone, genre-hopping tale—from fantasy and adventure to science fiction—presented in a digest-sized format. The series stands as a late-era showcase for Cuti’s storytelling, bridging the golden-age pulp tradition with a modern indie sensibility.
