In the wake of the Annihilation Wave, Marvel's Spaceknights (2000–2001) revived the cosmic legacy of Rom, reimagining the Dire Wraith menace through a five-issue miniseries. Written primarily by Chris Batista and Jim Starlin, with Batista handling the art, the series introduced a new generation of cyborg knights sworn to defend the galaxy. Expanding on Starlin's signature cosmic mythos, it bridged the gap between classic space opera and the darker Marvel Universe of the early 2000s.
