About the series
In 1965–1966, Charlton Comics introduced a short-lived but inventive superhero with Son of Vulcan, a two-issue series from writers Joe Gill and Roy Thomas and artist Bill Fraccio. The story follows Johnny Mann, a man who gains the powers of the Roman god of fire and metalworking, and his encounters with the villainous Dr. Kong. Though brief, this series stands as a curious footnote in the Silver Age, showcasing Charlton’s willingness to blend mythological themes with costumed heroics.
