Snagglepuss
Western · 1962–1963 · 4 issues
About the series
From 1962 to 1963, Western Publishing brought the theatrical pink mountain lion Snagglepuss to comics in a four-issue series. Though best known as a Hanna-Barbera cartoon character, this short-lived run captured his flamboyant, Shakespeare-quoting personality in a format that paired him with other beloved animated co-stars of the era. A charming slice of 1960s licensed comics history, it stands as a vivid example of how Western's line of funny-animal titles kept classic TV characters alive on the newsstand.
