John Hulburd’s Slug is a single-issue oddity from Dragon Seed Productions, launched in 1977 as a self-contained creator-owned comic. A strange, character-driven story that stands apart from the mainstream, it showcases Hulburd’s full range as both writer and artist in a compact, personal package. Though it never continued beyond that first issue, its existence marks an early example of independent, auteur-driven comics from the late 1970s.
