About the series
Theo van den Boogaard's acerbic Dutch newspaper strip, collected by Oberon into five issues from 1982 to 1987, follows the self-important, perpetually aggrieved antihero Sjef van Oekel through a series of absurd, often scatological misadventures. A landmark of Dutch adult comics, the series is known for its sharp, cynical humor and van den Boogaard's distinctive, expressive linework, which brought the character's pompous failures to vivid life.
