Sjef van Oekel

Wim T. Schippers and Theo van den Boogaard created the iconic Dutch comic series Sjef van Oekel, which began in 1981 and has continued as a single-issue format into the present. The strip follows the misadventures of its bumbling, perpetually frustrated title character, a fixture of Dutch pop culture whose deadpan humor and surreal situations defined an era. Though only one issue long in this collected form, the series remains a landmark of Dutch comics, celebrated for its sharp satire and the distinctive, expressive artwork of van den Boogaard.
