About the series
Frank Miller’s Sin City is a seven-issue, neo-noir crime series published by Rackham from 1994 to 2001, later collected as The Hard Goodbye. Set in the grim, rain-slicked Basin City, it follows the hulking enforcer Marv on a violent, one-man crusade for justice after a one-night stand ends in murder. Miller’s stark, high-contrast black-and-white art and hard-boiled narration defined the series, making it a landmark in independent comics for its raw, cinematic storytelling. Its uncompromising tone and visual style would go on to influence the entire crime genre in comics and beyond.
