About the series
From 1957 to 1960, Lehning published 165 issues of Silberpfeil, a German comic series that followed the high-speed adventures of a heroic race car driver. The series was a staple of the postwar European comics market, blending automotive action with the clean, energetic artwork most associated with its lead artist, Hansrudi Wäscher. As a long-running, single-protagonist title, Silberpfeil helped define the adventure-comic format for a generation of young German readers.
