Shadow Life

In Shadow Life (2022–present, Ankama), a woman in her seventies—having faked her own death to escape a nursing home and reclaim her independence in a quiet apartment—finds her new life interrupted by the arrival of Death's literal, bureaucratic emissary. This one-issue debut from writer Hiromi Goto and artist Ann Xu reimagines the pursuit of a soul as a darkly comedic, intimate chase through the mundane details of everyday life.
