A spin-off of the flagship Corocoro Comic, Separate Corocoro Special was a quarterly anthology from Shogakukan that ran for 210 issues from 1984 to 2024. It offered a slightly more mature, experimental playground for the publisher's top manga talent, often featuring longer, more ambitious stories and one-shots alongside ongoing series. While it shared the same playful, game-and-gag-centric spirit as its parent magazine, this special edition became a key incubator for new ideas and a proving ground for creators who would define the Corocoro brand for decades.
