About the series

Rob Schrab’s Scud: The Disposable Assassin, published by Fireman Press from 1994 to 1998, follows a vending-machine-bought android hitman who discovers his self-destruct mechanism is faulty after his target is already dead, forcing him to keep working to fund his continued existence. Running 21 issues, the series blends absurdist sci-fi, dark comedy, and punk-rock energy, with Schrab co-writing alongside Dan Harmon and Mondy Carter, and art duties split between Schrab and Jim Mahfood. It became a cult touchstone for its anarchic tone and DIY aesthetic, capturing the 1990s indie-comics spirit.
