About the series
From 1984 to 1999, the German anthology series Schwermetall (published by Kunst der Comics / Alpha) delivered 136 issues of bold, eclectic comic art, serving as a crucial European counterpart to Heavy Metal. Most closely associated with the creative trio of Achim Schnurrer, Chris Scheuer, and Philippe Bertrand—who contributed both stories and artwork—the series showcased a distinctive blend of science fiction, fantasy, and experimental storytelling.
