Scènes de la vie privée des Animaux

A pioneering French series from publisher Garnier Frères, Scènes de la vie privée des Animaux (1909–present) adapts J. J. Grandville’s celebrated 19th-century satirical lithographs into a single comic-strip issue, offering a sly, anthropomorphic critique of human society through the eyes of its animal characters. Though only one issue was produced, it stands as an early, influential example of the comic medium in Europe, bridging the gap between political caricature and sequential narrative art.
