Sarasvatin hiekkaa

Published by Into Kustannus beginning in 2017, Sarasvatin hiekkaa is a Finnish graphic novel collaboration between writer Petri Tolppanen, novelist Risto Isomäki, and artist Jussi Kaakinen. This single-issue work adapts Isomäki's environmental thriller into a visual medium, exploring themes of climate change and geopolitical tension through a narrative centered on the sands of the Sarasvati River. Its significance lies in bringing a prominent Finnish literary voice into comics, merging eco-thriller storytelling with Kaakinen's detailed, atmospheric art.
