Sandokan

Sandokan, a series launched in 1976 by Sage - Sagédition, adapts the classic adventure stories of the legendary "Tiger of Malaysia" into comics. Though the run is brief, consisting of only a single issue, it represents an early European attempt to bring Emilio Salgari's swashbuckling pirate hero to the sequential art medium. The series is most associated with its creators' efforts to capture the exotic, high-seas drama of the original novels. It matters as a niche but faithful entry in the long tradition of French-language comic adaptations of literary adventure tales.
