About the series
A lighthearted Harvey Comics series from the late 1950s into the early 1960s, Sad Sack Comics starred the perpetually downtrodden but resilient G.I. and civilian everyman. Running for 40 issues, the title was most frequently written and drawn by Paul McCarthy, who brought a consistent, gently humorous tone to the character's endless misadventures. While not the original wartime creation, this Harvey run cemented the Sad Sack as a familiar figure in postwar comic book humor.
