Saber Marionette 'J'
Tokyopop · 2003–2004 · 5 issues
About the series
In the early 2000s, Tokyopop brought Satoru Akahori's anime-inspired world to English-language comics with this five-issue series. Written primarily by Jeremiah Bourque and Paul Morrissey, with art by Yumisuke Kotoyoshi, it adapts the story of a young man in a male-dominated colony who awakens three android "saber marionettes" programmed with distinct personalities. This short-lived but faithful manga-style adaptation captures the blend of sci-fi, comedy, and mecha action that defined the franchise for its era.
