Saïdjah en Adinda

In 2021, De Arbeiderspers published Dick Matena's adaptation of Multatuli's classic Dutch novel Saïdjah en Adinda as a single-issue graphic novel. Matena both wrote and illustrated this standalone work, translating the tragic colonial-era love story into a striking visual narrative. This project stands as a notable example of literary adaptation in comics, bringing a cornerstone of Dutch literature to a new medium through a single, focused volume.
