About the series
From 1960 to 1972, Marvel’s Romp offered 57 issues of lighthearted, gag-driven humor, a staple of the publisher’s pre-superhero comedy line. The series was most defined by the playful, clean-line artwork and witty scripts of Bill Wenzel, Bill Ward, and Dan DeCarlo, with George Crenshaw also contributing frequently as an artist. A cheerful, unpretentious snapshot of early Marvel’s funny side, it mattered as a long-running showcase for the era’s top cartoonists working outside the superhero genre.
