Martin Kellerman’s Rocky bok collects the early years of his acclaimed Swedish newspaper strip into two sturdy albums, published by Bladkompaniet/Schibsted in 2005–2006. Focusing on the misanthropic, chain-smoking anthropomorphic dog Rocky and his circle of aimless Stockholm friends, the series captures a raw, funny, and unflinching slice of urban twentysomething life. Kellerman’s scratchy, expressive art and deadpan dialogue made Rocky a defining voice in early 2000s European alternative comics.
