About the series
A short-lived Western comic from Hawley Publications, Red Ryder Comics ran for just four issues between 1940 and 1941, adapting the popular newspaper strip by artist-writer Fred Harman. Alongside Harman, creators Jim Gary and Ray Willner contributed to the adventures of the iconic cowboy Red Ryder and his young sidekick Little Beaver. Though brief, the series stands as a key early example of a syndicated newspaper strip making the leap to its own comic book title during the Golden Age.
