Red Rock

Italian readers of the early 1960s met a new kind of Western hero in Red Rock, a nine-issue series from Editoriale Corno. The title character, a lone gunman, navigated a harsh frontier landscape, with the series distinguished by its dynamic, cinematic artwork from the likes of Dino Battaglia and Sergio Toppi. Though short-lived, Red Rock stands as a notable example of Italian adventure comics' shift toward more mature, visually sophisticated storytelling.
