About the series
From 1990 to 1994, Fantagraphics published Real Stuff, a 20-issue anthology series anchored by writer Dennis P. Eichhorn's autobiographical tales of his wild, often surreal life experiences. The series featured a rotating roster of artists—including Gene Fama, Pat Moriarity, and Colin Upton—who brought Eichhorn's gritty, humorous, and deeply personal stories to life. A landmark in confessional, non-fiction comics, Real Stuff helped define the 1990s alternative-comics movement by proving that the medium could capture raw, unvarnished human truth.
