Raw was the landmark anthology of the 1980s underground comix revival, published by Art Spiegelman and Françoise Mouly’s Raw Books across eight issues. A showcase for a new generation of cartoonists, it featured the work of Bill Griffith, Cathy Millet, Drew Friedman, Kim Deitch, and many others, blending avant-garde experimentation with raw, visceral storytelling. The series helped redefine the possibilities of the comic form, bridging the gap between the underground and the emerging alternative-comics mainstream.
