Rataplan

Berck’s clean ligne claire art brought Yves Duval’s scripts to life in Rataplan, a nine-issue Franco-Belgian comic series from Le Lombard that ran from 1965 to 1973. The series follows the adventures of its titular character, a mischievous young boy, through lighthearted, humorous tales typical of the era’s European adventure comics. While never a flagship title, it stands as a charming example of the collaborative work between the prolific writer Duval and artist Berck, whose later work on Sammy and Stany Derval would cement their place in bande dessinée history.
