About the series
In the early 1980s, Brazilian publisher Editora Cinco launched Rarotonga, a 51-issue series that blended adventure, romance, and exotic island intrigue. Set on a mysterious Pacific island, the strip brought a tropical pulp sensibility to the newsstand, with lush art and dramatic storytelling that captivated readers. Though it ran only two years, the title became a cult touchstone of Brazilian comics, remembered for its atmospheric visuals and escapist charm.
