Prophet

In the mid-1990s, Image Comics launched this eight-issue series centered on John Prophet, a hulking, cybernetically enhanced soldier from a dystopian future. Written primarily by Chuck Dixon and Steve Downs, with a rotating team of artists including Stephen Platt, Mark Pajarillo, and Manny Clark, the book followed Prophet and his allies—Kirby, Jackson Kirby, Monica Caine, Jeff Terrell, and Psilence—as they waged a violent war against a tyrannical regime. Known for its gritty, over-the-top action and Platt's detailed, muscular artwork, Prophet epitomized the early Image style of bombastic, creator-owned sci-fi comics.
