Professor Xavier and the X-Men / Marvel Fanfare

In the mid-1990s, Marvel briefly brought its merry mutants back to their roots with this six-issue series, part of the Marvel Fanfare anthology line. Written primarily by Jorge González, with a rotating art team including Nick Gnazzo, Anthony Castrillo, and Duncan Rouleau, the book offered character-driven, done-in-one adventures for Professor X and his original X-Men. It's a fond, low-key snapshot of the team during a decade dominated by splashier, more bombastic superhero storytelling.
