Popeye Winter Special

A seasonal treat from Polystyle Publications, the Popeye Winter Special ran for seven issues between 1974 and 1980, bringing the spinach-loving sailor to British newsstands each winter. Bud Sagendorf, the longtime steward of the character, wrote every issue and contributed art, joined by regular artist Bill Mevin for these oversized, holiday-themed adventures. A cozy, reliably charming annual, it kept the classic Thimble Theatre spirit alive for a new generation of readers.
