About the series
In the mid-1970s, Editions Héritage brought the beloved sailor man to French-Canadian audiences with Popeye Le Marin, a 40-issue series running from 1975 to 1979. Anchored by the clean, classic cartooning of George Wildman and Bud Sagendorf—both longtime stewards of the character's look—these comics faithfully adapted the hearty, spinach-fueled adventures of Popeye and his colorful cast. While the series primarily reprinted material from American comics, it stands as a key Canadian publication that kept the spirit of E.C. Segar's creation alive for a new generation of readers.
