From 1999 to 2003, Bladkompaniet (later Schibsted) published eight annual Pondus julehefte specials, bringing the beloved, everyday humor of Frode Øverli's long-running Norwegian newspaper strip into a festive, holiday-themed format. Each issue, entirely written and drawn by Øverli, collected seasonal gags centered on the hapless, football-obsessed everyman Pondus and his long-suffering circle of family and friends. These Christmas annuals helped cement the strip's massive popularity in Norway, offering readers a warm, reliably funny dose of wintertime escapism.
