About the series
In the mid-1970s, Gredown published Planet of Vampires, a seven-issue horror-sci-fi series that transplanted classic vampire lore to an alien world. The series follows a group of human astronauts who crash-land on a mysterious planet where the native species are blood-drinking, nocturnal creatures with a chilling hive-mind society. Written and drawn by the team of August Froehlich and Bill Black, this obscure but inventive title stands as a cult gem of the small-press era, blending space opera with gothic terror long before such cross-genre concepts became commonplace.
