Piracy

A short-lived but ambitious two-issue series from Italian publisher 001 Edizioni, Piracy (2009–2010) explored the high seas of the 18th century through a modern, revisionist lens. Known for its gritty, historically grounded artwork and morally complex characters, the series offered a brutal, unsentimental look at pirate life. Though it only ran for two issues, it remains a notable example of Italian comics' willingness to tackle genre material with a mature, auteur-driven approach.
