About the series
In the early 1940s, DC Comics published Picture Stories from the Bible Old Testament, a six-issue series that adapted scripture into sequential art. With writing contributions from Treasury Secretary Henry Morgenthau Jr. and Montgomery Mulford, and art by Don Cameron, the series brought a reverent, educational tone to the comic-book medium. It stands out as an early, earnest attempt by a major publisher to treat biblical narratives with the same visual storytelling craft as its superhero titles.
