Picture Crimes

An odd artifact from the dawn of American comics, Picture Crimes was a single-issue true-crime magazine published by David McKay in 1937. Rather than illustrations, it used actual crime-scene and news photographs to recount sensational real-life cases. As an early experiment in photojournalism within the comic-book format, it offers a unique, gritty snapshot of the pre-superhero era.
